The ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT of The Lord of the Rings has been in Milwaukee this whole time?!
Though the Blatz Brewery in Milwaukee has been closed for about 50 years, and the Blatz Beer is now being contract brewed by Pabst, the original brewery building found new life in 2006 after it was converted to condos. After clearing out the basement, cases of unused beer bottles were found and instead of sending them to be recycled, they were upcycled and made apart of the re-design of the Blatz building. Bringing back a sense of the history and heritage of the building and brewery, the bottles were made apart of giant pivoting doors that open up to a lower lounge and provide spatial flexibility and a warm glow from the diffusion of light through the amber bottles.

It’s that time of year again! The planning for Cranksgiving Milwaukee is in full force. This years race will be on November 14th and start at the same location of Humboldt and Locust. For those of you who aren’t aware of what Cranksgiving is here’s a little info: Cranksgiving is essentially an alley-cat race in which you will ride from checkpoint to checkpoint (grocery stores in this case) buying a non-perishable food item for the hungry. There is no entry fee however you will need around $10-$15 to buy the food items. In milwaukee we have an A class and B class so anyone can ride. If you’re looking to do your first alley-cat and dont want to race against the messengers and diehard riders the B class is for you as it’ll be a little shorter in distance etc. All you need is a bike, bag and a lock.
